Thank You Tea Party

E-mail Print PDF

To begin, I would like to thank all for the opportunity to make my case to be the nominee for the 17th Congressional District. Although we did not secure the nomination, it was an honor to have the privilege push the values of limited government and securing individual liberties and freedoms.

I will continue to address the issues facing our nation; attacks on our personal liberties, veterans, and youth; not because I am seeking the nomination, but because we must find solutions. I have committed myself to these issues and will continue to fight for what we believe to be Right & Just.

My first step will be to fulfill my promise to help the nominated candidate Dr. David Moylan win in November. I will also be active helping our Veterans receive the help and support they deserve. It is apparent that we can not wait for our government to solve these issues.

Although, I was unable to attend tonight's meeting I look to be active in the LVTP. Your mission of educating Americans on the issues facing our great nation is something to be proud of.

Your commitment to reduce Government spending must be recognized in Washington. The path of spending and debt is unsustainable. It is mathematically impossible, maybe that is why our Government has felt the need to push Common Core, where getting the right answer isn't important.

The Tea Party has changed the election debates. No longer are candidates running on what government programs and funds that they will bring back to their district, but campaign on fiscal responsibility. Now if we can get them to add running on protecting our liberties and constraining government, we as a nation will be on the right track.

I want to thank you again for the opportunity to come before the group, and look to work with you going forward.

Matthew Dietz

Thank You - Second Amendment Action Day

E-mail Print PDF

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their hard work and support of the 9thAnnual Pennsylvania Second Amendment Action Day. This event would not be possible without all of your dedication to our right to keep and bear arms.

Despite the rain, we still had a solid turnout of both legislators and attendees. Your presence was definitely noticed throughout the halls of the Capitol.

I look forward to meeting with everyone later in the year to discuss the plans for 10th Annual Action Day.

Until then, please keep up the fight and do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance with any state-related issue.

For Liberty,
Daryl Metcalfe

State Representative

Lehigh Valley Tea Party Meetings

"WOW" describes April's First Friday Event...

The  monthly meetings of the Lehigh Valley Tea Party continue to attract a fantastic turn-out of patriots.  In April, attendees learned about the Convention of States (COS) movement from Roger Rinker and Sue McCarthy of COS in PA.  They provided a  comprehensive overview of the subject and answered audience questions.

Our members however are not "just an audience" but rather an active force against tyranny, an educated voter block for liberty, who took action!

Our members' concern for this issue resulted in 78 "We're Still Watching" postcards mailed to 16 different elected officials with personalized  messages asking them to support and lead on the issue of COS in PA.

Furthermore,  a follow-up letter was sent by the LVTP to all 16 state and federal level elected representatives of both Lehigh and Northampton counties further encouraging them to "Listen to We the People". (Read it here)

To help keep the heat turned up on COS in PA and for more information visit: conventionofstates.com

The April meeting's second guest speaker was Libertarian Candidate for PA Governor, Ken Krawchuk who spoke about his book, Atlas Snubbed.  The book articulates some very bold and fresh ideas such as separating society from state.   Mr. Krawchuck also answered questions and definitely peaked members' interest with his remarks.

To purchase your own copy of Atlas Snubbed go to http://www.atlassnubbed.com/

NEXT - May 2nd Candidate Forum Event!  Plan to attend and participate.

Get to know the three GOP candidates as they battle it out for their party’s nomination to take on Democrat incumbent Matthew Cartwright in November to represent the 17th Congressional District.   Not your voting district ?  Remember  your freedoms are not defined by a voting district.

Watch for more details on the May meeting.

School Property Tax Update and Action Item

E-mail Print PDF

foreclosure

Last year we had a presentation from David Baldinger of the PENNSYLVANIA TAXPAYERS CYBER COALITION concerning school property tax elimination. Some of us even took a bus to Harrisburglogo to promote the importance of HB\SB 76 to our state legislators. David and concerned taxpayers across the state have been tirelessly pressing the case for tax elimination and anticipate committee voting to occur very shortly. Please read the message from David Baldinger reproduced below:

Exciting news!  Technical revisions to Senate Bill 76, the Property Tax Independence Act, have been completed and we anticipate a vote in the Senate Finance Committee very shortly.

Unfortunately, the well-heeled special interest opponents of SB 76 are also aware of the impending vote.  Last week a coordinated group of them began their opposition campaign with an extremely negative letter loaded with distortions that was sent to all Senate Finance Committee members to urge them to vote against the bill.  On the same day this organization held a media event to publicize their actions.

Senator David Argall, one of the SB 76 prime sponsors, said this about their opposition in the April 10 issue of PA Independent: “The current tax can make people homeless, and I can’t believe that these groups would be defending the status quo.”

The fight for enactment of the Property Tax Independence Act is truly a battle between the self-serving special interests that influence so much of today’s lawmaking and the ordinary taxpaying, grassroots citizens who crafted this legislation and want their voices to be heard.

Right now it is imperative that we do just that and do it loudly and clearly.  To effectively respond to this special interest attack on our homes and families we must let the members of the Senate Finance Committee know at once that we, the people, want the enactment SB 76 and expect them to support and vote for this legislation for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians.

ACTION ITEM:
Since time is critical, please write, email, call, or visit the members of the Senate Finance Committee IMMEDIATELY to strongly encourage them to vote for SB 76 in committee.  Since our goal is to gain support and not to make enemies, please keep all contacts courteous, respectful, and non-threatening but, at the same time, be firm with your request.  If you’d like, explain why this legislation is so important to you and how it will affect your family.

The list of the eleven Senate Finance Committee members is here: http://x.co/4KT4S.  Click on each of their names for contact information.

This is a crucial time for the future of SB 76, the Property Tax Independence Act, so PLEASE take a few moments to help with the effort.  I simply can’t stress strongly enough the importance of your participation.

Please forward this message to everyone in your Pennsylvania email address book and spread the word about SB 76 wherever and whenever possible.  We can achieve enactment of this vital legislation but we need everyone’s help NOW!
